dc.description.abstract The contribution deals with a long-therm friendship of two extraordinary personalities. Hugo Vavrecka was qualified as an eletrical engineer, but he was also engaged in journalism in his youth, later he was a diplomat representing the Czechoslovak Republic as an envoy in Budapest and Vienna in 1920s. He knew the Zlín entrepreneur Tomas Bata since 1906. He followed with interest his personal and business achievements, was his advisor and external colleague namely in the field of trading and advertising. After he finished his diplomatic mission, he accepted Bata's offer of the job of the business manager of the Company. He started to work in Zlín on 1. July 1932. en
