Přestože žijeme v době geeků, současné společenskovědní obory ví o tomto pozoruhodném jevu velmi málo. Bakalářská práce poukazuje na nejednotnost v pochopení, o koho se vlastně jedná. Z původního názvu pro pouťového kejklíře a famózního artistu se vyvinulo označení pro fyzicky nepřitažlivé, neupravené, s hygienou soupeřící intelektuální hvězdy, které si s moderními technologiemi rozumí více než s lidmi. Autorka seznamuje čtenáře s novodobým fenoménem "Geek" a pokouší se - pro sociální pedagogiku - objevit specifické aspekty jeho chování. Terénní výzkum probíhal v "Hackerspace labech", přirozeném prostředí počítačových a technických nadšenců. |

Although we are living in the age of geeks, social sciences' knowledge about this remarkable phenomenon is very weak. The bachelor?s thesis points out the disunity in understanding who geeks are. The original name designating a juggler or an excellent acrobat has evolved into a designation for physically unattractive, untidy intellectual stars, who fight with hygiene but who get on well with modern technologies better than with people. The author acquaints the readers with a modern phenomenon called "Geek" and she tries - with respect to special pedagogy - to discover specific aspects of his/her behaviour. The field research was running at "Hackerspace Labs", natural environment for computer and technology enthusiasts. |
